Independent musicians depend on technology to present their music on Web sites and to agents/DJs via CDs. Current MP3 player products are geared towards the consumer-- leaving musicians vulnerable to music copying and other problems.

ClydeSight Productions solves this with Jukeamatica Futura - a customizable MP3 player jukebox. A Jukeamatica Futura presentation can be customized by musicians to highlight themselves, their albums, contact and other info and play their music -- all while deterring unauthorized copying. Musicians have control, not the consumer, and they can configure the player to run on the Web or the desktop.

Neoclassical composer Tim Thompson, an indie musician himself, came up with the concept. "I was frustrated by the current methods of presenting music samples on the Web. They don't properly highlight me as well as my work. My music files can be copied and I was never sure what the consumer was hearing. I had no control. I went to indie musician news groups and found that many shared my frustrations and wished for a solution."

Thompson worked with ClydeSight Productions to develop Jukeamatica Futura. The jukebox plays by itself from a Web page or on the desktop. One of its unique features is that the musician customizes it, not the end user, so the musician is in control.

It has two components, the player itself and the customization component. The player is pre-programmed with full transport controls, displays artwork (album covers, concerts, etc.) and has clickable "Web Jumps" to Web pages. The musician customizes it by telling it what music and image files to use and where to go for the Web Jumps.

When visitors land on a musician's Jukeamatica Futura Web page, they see the player. They click the PLAY button and Jukeamatica Futura sequentially plays every song while displaying artwork and offering jumps to other pages in the musician's Web site. It can even play in the background, giving the Web site a soundtrack. Visitors who try to "save as" or "right click" the page get a player that does not work and has no content. This protects the musician's music files from collectors.

Jukeamatica Futura can be configured to do the same thing as a stand-alone player, running from a CD, for example. This gives musicians a unique way of presenting themselves to agents and DJ's.
