GLENDALE, Calif., Jan. 11 -- Panda Security a leading provider of IT security solutions, today announced that in a study carried out by the AV.Test.org , the Company's anti-malware solutions offered the most effective proactive protection. Panda Security solutions proactively detected 91 percent of threats compared to other security offerings from Trend Micro (68 percent), Symantec (66 percent), or McAfee (55 percent).

The study tested a number of security solutions from a range of vendors against threats from the "In-The-Wild" list, during July, August and September 2007. The detection rates were measured using the recommended settings for the e-mail and web protection of the products, as the Internet remains the infiltration vector for most malware.

"This analysis evaluated heuristic and signature-based technologies. Panda Security's products not only address these technologies, but also include additional pro-active protection layers such as a host-based intrusion prevention system (HIPS) and a behavioral analysis module," said Luis Corrons, technical director of PandaLabs. "This further increases the protection that we offer our clients."

The same study also reported that PandaLabs, Panda Security's anti-malware laboratory, is once again confirmed as one of the fastest in the industry in providing protection against new threats through virus signature files. It is able to provide updates to its clients considerably quicker than most other security vendors.
