New CompactPCI Disk Module from ACT/Technico provides multiple mass storage solutions in a single 6U slot

March 27, 2004--ACT/Technico (www.acttechnico.com), a leading supplier of integrated real-time and embedded systems built with CompactPCI, VMEbus, and other open architecture platforms, has exapnded its line of mass storage solutions with a new 6U single slot disk module for CompactPCI based systems. The new field-replaceable CPCIStor is designed to support boot strap, application load, and data storage in a single slot, making it well suited for use in communications environments.

The CPCIStor, which can ship with up to three high availability 2.5" ATA drives, provides a 32-bit 33 MHz CompactPCI interface, has an on-board ATA controller, and supports hot swap removal. The CPCIStor is available with 2.5" ATA hard drives up to 80 GB, or CF-II drives up to 4 GB each. The front panel of the new storage module provides activity LEDs and ejector handles for easy removal.

The CPCIStor can be used for solid state memory solutions as well as rotating media from 10 GB to 60 GB, including hard drives and CD-ROMs. Current configurations available include:

1) One CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive and one hard disk
2) One CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive and one internal or front access CompactFlash
3) One CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive and two CompactFlash
4) Three 2 ½" ATA hard disks
5) Two 2 ½" ATA hard disks and one CompactFlash
6) Two hard disks and two CompactFlash, one internal, one front access

The CPCIStor is supported using standard and/or RAID device drivers for Linux, VxWorks, and Windows. It is also Solaris-compatible, allowing the use of SPARC technology on CompactPCI.

The CPCIStor is available immediately; pricing starts at $1,550 for a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive and hard disk configuration (version 1).
